Teacup DIY projects

Pick one: Vintage teacups are great because

a) You can always find them crowding the shelves at any thrift store.
b) They're cheap.
c) They're pretty.
d) There's like a million things you can do with them (besides drinking out of them, that is).

Confession: A year or so ago I decided I would attempt to make teacup candles, like the ones pictured above. They looked so sweet and, ahem, easy, and I couldn't wait. I went to a craft store and bought wax, wicks and scented oils. I bought pretty flowered teacups at Value Village for dirt cheap. "This is going to be my best gift idea ever," I thought.

Well, my teacup candles were a failure. I think I bought the wrong kind of wax. It was a solid block and I couldn't figure out how to cut through it. The whole process ended up being frustrating and produce a rather sad-looking teacup candle.

However, even though that DIY didn't turn out as planned, I would still consider trying one of these ideas for repurposing vintage teacups.
